"On the Fringe" started as a quintuple stand of tall, skinny trees that seemed to travel with their toes from place to place, never separating from the orginal group. As the image emerged from the paper, it seemed that something was missing. In order to convey the feel of inclusiveness, there needed to be an outsider; another character that sort of belonged and yet didn't quite fit in.
