This portrait was painted quickly in watercolor in a 20 - 30 minute sitting. The object is to capture not only the likeness of the subject, but also the mood of the moment. I teach a very limited color palette and use the white of the paper as a major player in the composition. Speed keeps things loose and helps to leave out unimportant details.
